Culebra Island Realty is owned and operated by Jim Galasso a retired law enforcement officer from Long Island , New York. Jim is a licensed real estate broker in Puerto Rico and Cheryl is a licensed sales person. He has lived on Culebra for 15 years with his family. Twelve years ago, Jim and his wife Cheryl, started a property management business that specializes in vacation rentals of some of Culebra’s finest privately owned homes. On Culebra between guest houses and small hotels there are only about 240 rentable rooms. This limits the accessibility to Culebra. So Culebra Island Realty offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy the island from a different perspective and with more privacy and comfort.

A week stay is seven nights. Since 98% of our guests stay a week or longer our price structure was created to make it most affordable for these clients. We cannot prorate these rates for stays under a week. However, you are welcomed to stay longer and we do prorate out days over a week. We do not require a Saturday to Saturday schedule. The schedule for each home is based upon the individual schedule of each house. We pride ourselves on the condition and cleanliness of the homes we represent which is why we have a repeat rate of over 66%.

EFFECTIVE - APRIL 1st, 2004--NEW TAX ON SHORT TERM RENTALS - THE GOVERNMENT OF PUERTO RICO IN AN EFFORT TO PROMOTE TOURISM NOW REQUIRES THAT WE CHARGE A 7% TAX ON SHORT TERM RENTALS.

ZONI BEACH AREA: Zoni Beach is a mile long sand beach located on the secluded eastern coast of Culebra.

The high quality zoning has designated most of the east end either 25 or 5 acres per house zoning.

Zoni Beach faces St Thomas, Culebrita, and Cayo Norte and the water is normally calm. Typically during the winter season Zoni Beach has about 30-50 visitors, however many times you can be the only person. The nearest commercial building is back over four miles on a paved country type road. Zoni Beach is a timeless treasure. As for the past thousands of years, the Leatherback Turtles come back each year to nest. The nesting is done at night during late March to July. We ask that you respect their Zoni legacy as it is they that keep this treasure timeless. The Leatherback Turtles are an endangered species and are protected by the Endangered Species Act. Therefore- now and forever there should be NO building on Zoni Beach.

CASA BELLAVISTA

CASA AQUABELLA-
  Casa Aquabella is the perfect Culebra vacation home offering terrific accommodations, stunning ocean views, an infinity  swimming pool with tropical landscaping and AC to all bedrooms. Located on a one acre property just a few hundred yards above fabulous Zoni Beach, Casa Aquabella has perfect trade breeze exposure and has some of the best ocean views presented by any house on Culebra.  From the sumptuous decks you will enjoy incredible daytime views to St Thomas and Culebrita and be enchanted by celestial night time visions with thousand of stars and of the lights of St Thomas. WATER FRONT PROPERTIES: As the four one mile long beaches of Culebra are protected from building it is unqiue and rare to have a waterfront rental home. The homes listed below are all located in a private community located just off the road to Zoni Beach about two and a half miles from town and the nearest commercial building. This private community has a minimum of five acres a house zoning. Each of these waterfront rental homes offers outstanding Caribbean views.

Located about three miles from town on five acres. The front deck overlooks the Caribbean, and is a short walk of 80 yards to a waterfront of 235 yards of which 80 yards is a sandy entry into a small calm bay that is protected by a exterior coral reef. . A two person or two single person sea kayak are included. Great swimming, snorkeling and fly fishing right from the beach- with Tarpan and Bonefish. Great views and breeze. The large 750 sq ft area provides impressive sun protected area for lounging and dinning while enjoying the delightful tropical breezes and those unforgettable Caribbean views. The Taino Indians were the first inhabitants of Culebra- These Taino  words- "Maroha Maorocoti" mean "moon as big as a mountain and as powerful."

CASITA DE SIRENOUSE
 - Waterfront - Terrific Ocean views- Kayaks- Many Refinements Just completed and ready for rentals March 2004. Located on a waterfront five acre property- in a private community with five acre zoning. This guest cottage is a definition of Caribbean elegance. A one bedroom with a queen bed in a designer bedroom. A living/dinning area and a complete kitchen. The deck with dinning table overlooks an expansive ocean view and gets nice trade breezes. This cottage has central AC but it will seldom be used because of the trade breezes and ceiling fans. The pristine waterfront with a coral reef for snorkeling is a 400 meter trail walk below the house and there is a new gazebo with deck furniture for a waterfront picnic in the shade. Some of the many extras include- kayaks, Direct Sat TV with dvd/vcr, stereo CD, cooler, beach chairs, central AC.

SECTION #3 - SECLUDED HOMES
SECLUDED RENTAL HOMES- Each of these rental homes is located on the quiet secluded eastern side of Culebra. They are about midway between Zoni Beach and the small town of Dewey. So you are a short five minute ride in either direction and about the same to Flamenco Beach. Each of these homes is located on a minimum of five acres of property in a private community zoned five acres a house. Each of these quality rental homes offer outstanding views and cooling trade breezes.

CASA COQUI
"perfect blend of peace, serenity and the natural beauty of the Caribbean"
A very distinctive residence composed of three separate buildings all interconnected with decks and walkways. There are three large bedrooms each with a separate unique bathroom and with its own sumptuous private deck. Each bedroom has a king sized bed. The living-kitchen-dinning area located in the center building has another large deck for outdoor dinning and relaxing. From all four decks there are spectacular views to Manglar Bay located approx one half mile below the house.

On Manglar Bay there is a community dock (125 ft) that permits loading and unloading of passengers with easy safe anchorage available a short distance away. There is excellent swimming from the dock area. From the dock, Tarpon and Bone fishing are only a few hundred yards in opposite directions. Casa Coqui is located on five very secluded acres of property in a private community that requires five acre for a residence. Using a seldom traveled paved road and a community dirt road Casa Coqui is over 4 miles from town and the nearest commercial building. Approx 2 miles from Casa Coqui is the fabled Zoni Beach which is a mile long sand beach that faces St Thomas, Culebrita and Cayo Norte. On a busy day there might be 50 other worshippers enjoying this incredible beach. Casa Coqui offers a excellent setting of natural landscaping with many tropical plants, flowers and trees. There is also an array of indigenous and migratory birds. Casa Coqui with over 2000 sq ft of interior living space has a fully equipped kitchen, TV/DVD, stereo, gas grill, coolers, beach chairs, 2 single kayaks. SELECT AFFORDABLE HOMES : The homes listed below are closer into town. These homes work well for folks that are looking for something more affordable but do not sacrifice on comfort or cleanliness. They are also perfect for guests who want to be closer to town and want to do daily diving or plan on using Flamenco Beach during most of their visit. Please be assured that Culebra Island Realty does not accept a rental home unless it meets our standards. These homes offer excellent interiors with attractive furnishings and the properties have good to very good views of the interior harbor.

 CASA NUEVA
  This home offers spectacular views to the interior harbor of Culebra and is well positioned to enjoy the cooling trade breezes. Casa Nueva offers an elegant architectural design with many options. The two story house has an expansive entrance patio and offers covered balcony patios for each floor with to take advantage of the terrific harbor views and breezes. The first floor offers approx 900 sq ft with two bedrooms ( king & two twins), a living room, large designer bathroom, a modern kitchen and a covered balcony patio. If the fruit ripens during your stay help yourself.    Located on a quiet cul de sac street 75 yards above the interior harbor and the interior municipal dock.  Only three blocks to the ferry dock. Features a large one bedroom house with approx 900 sq ft living space and a private shaded patio with a newly redesigned (Sept 2008)  lap pool ( 6x29ft) and tiled patio area. Dine or lounge on the veranda patio with views to the interior harbor. Stroll a city block to either Mamacitas or the Dingy Dock for excellent cuisine. Casa Pueblo offers a complete kitchen, bath, and bedroom with queen bed and AC. Accessories include:  Direct Sat TV, DVD, Radio CD with Ipod connection, outdoor grill, teak patio lounge chairs, patio table and chairs, beach chairs, cooler, beach umbrella access to washing machine.  Communications include a landline with free service to PR and US and paid internet wireless access is less than a block away at various hotspots.      Located in town one block to Culebra’s famous restaurants “Mamacitas and “Dingy Dock” and a bit further to Suzy’s, El Eden, Pan Deli and “the Spot”. This one bedroom apartment located on the second floor has a queen bed (AC in the bedroom) and complete kitchen/living/ dinning area. The large covered deck is shared be an adjacent apartment that is occupied by one of Culebra’s mildly eccentric artist. You may dine on the covered deck which has dedicated table-chairs for the apt. Seasonally as pruning permits– in Dec Jan Feb March April there are views to the interior harbor form the deck. During the other months the views are blocked by the property” mango and avocado trees. To really taste the joys of the real Culebra at an affordable price “Apt Pueblo” is perfect. It is one of the few properties that a rental vehicle is not a necessity . Rental includes Beach chairs and cooler and access to washing machine. Two persons maximum occupancy
